What kind of weapon should I bring?

When hunting plains game we recommend a minimum calibre of .270 up to .338 win mag with premium calibre bullets.  For a 7 day hunt you require a minimum of 40 soft rounds.

When hunting dangerous game we insist on a minimum calibre of 0.375 or higher. For a 7 day hunt you will require a minimum of 60 soft rounds and 40 solid rounds

How do I get my firearm into South Africa?

Restless Africa Safaris will complete the Temporary Firearm Import Application - SAP 520 - on your behalf and the Restless Africa representative will hand it to you upon arrival.  Kindly furnish us with the following in order to complete the application:

Restless Africa Safaris will also furnish you with an outfitter invitation letter prior to your departure.

IMPORTANT - Please note that NO semi-automatic weapons are allowed.

When is the best time to book my safari?

Restless Africa Safaris only hunt between April and August as this is the best time for both rifle and bow hunters alike with rifle hunting taking preference between May to July and bow hunting July to August as it is the dry season.

What are the passport and visa requirements?

Valid passport and entry visas are required for entry into South Africa.  Please ensure that your passport has at least six months before it expires and that there are three (3) months on arrival in South Africa, free of charge. Some countries in the region may require visas to be arranged prior to arrival, so please double check.

What about my health?

Restless Africa Safaris hunts for the most part in malaria free areas and should your safari require you to travel to Mozambique, Zimbabwe or Botswana - we will give you sufficient advance warning to take malaria prophylactics.

Kindly advise us should you have any specific dietary requirements, allergies, medical conditions or disability. There are hospitals and medical personnel within easy driving distance from all our safari camps.

What happens upon arrival at OR Tambo International Airport?

One of our Restless Africa Safari guides will meet you upon arrival and assist with clearing your firearm at the airport SAPS ( South African Police Service) station.  Once complete you will be transferred to the safari camp which takes approximately 2 hours.

What accommodation can one expect?

You will be accommodated at one of the Restless Africa Safari's camps where you will have your own room and ensuite bathroom.

Most of our camps do have WiFi available. You are welcome to bring your laptop or cell phone to contact your family and loved ones.
